Explanation of the design concept and New Year’s Message by Natasha Davidov, CEO Davidov London Jewellery:
Last year we started our special jewellery project – the Aska Maternity Movement Bracelet, which is designed to help pregnant women monitor their baby’s movements.This can potentially help flag irregularities in the baby’s health and motivate these expectant mothers to seek medical help immediately should that be the case. Part of the proceeds from net sales goes back to NHS Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group to further support the “Saving Babie’s Lives” initiative and raise awareness through their local maternity units.
We all know that from a business perspective, 2020 was the most difficult year in living memory, even for a big players in this industry (and almost every other). At many times our efforts to keep things going seemed like one step forward and two steps back. Yet, I felt I needed to continue, because this project is more than a business. It has a special meaning which was what initially motivated me to start it in the first place. There was this constant question in me: if we are sincere in what we want to happen, then when will we need to reassure and support women more than ever, if not now?!
So, giving up or postponing the idea to better times was not an option, not as long as we have something to give.
Alas, sometimes we are not so strong as we hope to be; more often than I would expect from myself, I felt burdened. Especially due to difficult private events. It was at times very challenging to keep up with everything and to overcome personal sorrows.
Sometimes however, in the adversity of the moment, we may even question our sense of meaning.
Whenever that kind of thinking and feeling happened to me over this past year, a photo of a beautiful new born baby, or the words of gratitude from happy mothers would arrive. It was as though being guided from above! For me it was like the drop of water, which is all that is needed to revive a suffering plant.
Actually, these occasions were more than a drop of water: they were the essence of meaningful existence.
Thus, I want to say that 2020, more than ever before (in both my professional and private life) confirmed for me that giving is the biggest wealth we can have. And that we are rich not because of what we possess, but because of what we give. It also offered a proof that everything can be taken from us except this ability to choose our attitude within a given set of circumstances.
The search for meaning during difficult times, and doing that with ultimate earnestness is not an easy task, yet it is what helped human race to survive even the most difficult conditions history has ever known. And it certainly is something that helped me!
So I want to thank all my little angels and helpers, known and unknown, and to wish to all my friends and to those that are not (or not yet) a meaningful and healthy New Year!”

L'année dernière, nous avons lancé notre projet original de bijoux - le bracelet Aska Maternity Movement - conçu pour aider les femmes enceintes à controler les mouvements in-utero de leur bébé, ce qui peut potentiellement les alerter sur les irrégularités dans la santé du bébé et les inciter à consulter immédiatement un médecin si cela devait s'avérer neccesaire. Une partie du produit des ventes nettes revient au NHS Telford et au Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group pour soutenir davantage l’initiative «Saving Babie’s Lives» et sensibiliser le public à travers leurs maternités locales.
Nous savons tous que d'un point de vue commercial, 2020 a été l'année la plus difficile de mémoire d'homme. À plusieurs reprises, nos efforts pour faire avancer les choses semblaient se résumer à un pas en avant et deux en arrière. Pourtant, j'ai senti qu'il me fallait continuer, car ce projet est plus qu'une entreprise. Il a une signification particulière qui m'a initialement motivée à le lancer en premier lieu. Il y avait cette question constante en moi: si nous sommes sincères dans ce que nous voulons qu'il se passe, alors quand aurons-nous besoin de rassurer et de soutenir les femmes plus que jamais, sinon maintenant?!
Donc, abandonner ou reporter l'idée à des temps meilleurs n'était pas une option, pas tant que nous avons quelque chose à donner.
Hélas, parfois nous ne sommes pas aussi forts que nous l’espérons; plus souvent que je ne l'attendais de moi-même, je me sentais accablée. Surtout en raison d'événements privés difficiles. Il était parfois très difficile de tout suivre et de surmonter ses peines personnelles.
Parfois cependant, dans l'adversité du moment, nous pouvons même remettre en question notre approche des évènements.
Chaque fois que ce type de pensées et de sentiments m'arrivait au cours de l'année écoulée, une photo d'un beau bébé nouveau-né ou les mots de gratitude de mères heureuses arrivaient. C'était comme être guidée par une force superieure! Pour moi, c'était comme la goutte d'eau nécesaire pour faire revivre une plante qui souffre.
En fait, ces occasions étaient plus qu'une goutte d'eau: elles étaient l'essence même d'une existence significative.
Ainsi, je veux dire que 2020, plus que jamais (dans ma vie professionnelle et privée) m'a confirmé que le don est la plus grande richesse que nous puissions avoir. Et que nous sommes riches non pas à cause de ce que nous possédons, mais à cause de ce que nous donnons. Elle a également offert la preuve que tout peut nous être retiré, sauf cette capacité à choisir notre attitude dans un ensemble de circonstances donné.
La recherche de sens pendant les périodes difficiles, et le faire avec sérieux et convictions n'est pas une tâche facile, mais c'est ce qui a aidé la race humaine à progresser même dans les conditions les plus difficiles que l'histoire ait jamais connues. Et c'est certainement quelque chose qui m'a aidé!
Je veux donc remercier tous mes petits anges et aides, connus et inconnus, et souhaiter à tous mes amis et à ceux qui ne sont pas (ou pas encore) une nouvelle année significative et saine!

Много пута су наши напори да наставимо чинили да се осећамо као да смо направили један корак напред и два корака уназад. Ипак, осећала сам да морам да наставим, јер је овај пројекат више од посла. Има посебно значење које ме је првобитно мотивисало да га започнем. У мени је константно тињалопитање: ако смо искрени у ономе што радимо, када би требало да пружимо подршку и сигурност женама, ако не сада?!
Дакле, одустајање или одлагање за нека боља времена није била опција, не све док имамо нешто да пружимо.
Авај, понекад нисмо толико јаки као што се надамо и чешће него што бих то очекивала од себе, осећала сам се оптерећено. Нарочито због тешких приватних догађаја. Изазов је понекада био пратити све и превазићи тугу.
Понекад, међутим, у тешким тренуцима, такође можемо довести у питање смисао свог бивствовања.
Кад год би ми се догодила таква врста размишљања и осећања, стигла би ми фотографија прелепе новорођене бебе или речи захвалности срећних мајки. Било је то нешто као вођено одозго! За мене је то било попут капљице воде, која је све што је потребно за оживљавање биљке која пати (поготово ако јој не треба много, попут геранијума на пример).
Заправо, то је било више од капи воде: то је била суштина смисла постојања.
Стога желим да кажем да је ова година више него икад (како у мом професионалном тако и у мом личномживоту) потврдила да је давање највеће богатство које можемо имати. И да смо богати не због онога што поседујемо, већ због онога што дајемо. Ова година нам је такође понудила доказ да можемо остати без свега осим те способности да одаберемо свој став у датим околностима.
Потрага за смислом током тешких времена и трагати за њим с крајњом озбиљношћу није лак задатак, али ипак је то оно што је помогло човечансту да преживи и најтеже услове које је икада познавало. А то је свакако нешто што је мени помогло!
Стога желим да се захвалим свим својим малим анђелима и помагачима, знаним и незнаним, и да пожелим свим својим пријатељима и онима који то нису (односно још увек нису) смислену и здраву Нову годину!
